We defend the forest that has defended Ovar for a century.
A forest planted by hand to hold back the sea — today threatened by clear-cutting, invasive species and poor management.
Born from those who watched the forest fall — and refused to accept it.

Mais Pinhal emerged when clear-cuts began opening continuous gaps in the dune forest between Esmoriz, Cortegaça and Maceda. We are neighbours, biologists, teachers and families who grew up among these pines — united to demand management that protects the forest instead of consuming it.

The forest was planted by hand
In the early 20th century, thousands of pines were sown on the dunes to stop the sand and the sea from advancing over the villages.

The camarinha lives here
Corema album, a rare shrub of the Atlantic dunes, still survives on this coast. We work with The Camarinha Project to protect it.
